How I Lost 100 Pounds With The Diet Solution

Weight Loss Story: How I Lost 100 Pounds Without Dieting or Exercising

Hey there, it’s Janice!

Do you want to know how to lose weight and keep it off FOR GOOD? I used to want to know that too! Forget “dieting” because that doesn’t work. Stop planning to run for two hours a day on the treadmill. I started this Weight Loss Story blog because I finally did find a way to lose weight effectively, with a program by Isabel De Los Rios called: The Diet Solution.

Why Did I Want To Lose Weight?

I hated the way I looked in my bathing suit. I used to be a swimmer, but I imagine now I looked more like a beached whale while tanning.

I wanted to feel sexy again in bed. My husband and I have always had great intimacy in our marriage, but when you’re 250 pounds let’s just say some things are more difficult.

I found out I was prediabetic. If I didn’t get my own weight loss story, I could face diabetes for the rest of my life.

3 Little Problems In My Way

Problem #1: I hated working out. Who wants to see a sweaty, 250 pound woman bouncing around on the treadmill? Not me.

Problem #2: I hated dieting. Dieting has never worked for me. I always just gained all the weight back after. Dieting = torture.

Problem #3. I hated weight loss pills. I’ve tried both diethylpropion and orlistat (doctor prescribed). Supposed to limit appetite and make you not digest fat. Instead they gave me constipation and abdominal cramps worse than my Period. Yeah, not fun. Do not attempt.

How Could I Lose Weight Without Dieting or Exercising?

That sounds like the laziest question ever. But I was just being REALISTIC. I told my doctor I refused to go on another diet. And me going to the gym every day was just not going to happen. I needed a weight loss plan for me.

The Solution

A few weeks later, I came across The Diet Solution. It was a program made for women who hate dieting. The way you lose weight is BY EATING. That’s right. The program is not about dieting, but about eating. Sounds too good to be true, right? That’s what I thought.

To start losing weight today by eating, click here.

I purchased the program online and just followed everything it said. I kept a success journal, used the meal plans, the shopping list helper, and even the diet solution recipe guides. It basically tells you how to plan meals, what to cook, and what food to buy at the grocery store. All you really do is follow the instructions. You even get personal email consultation with the author if you have questions.

My Weight Loss Story

Basically, here’s my weight loss story in a nutshell: Within 10 days on the program, I noticed my pants were loose. After a month, I was down 2 notches on my belt. After two months, I had lost 19 pounds. By month three, I was at 28 pounds. This pace continued, and after a year I had lost 100 pounds!

It sounds so simple, but really it was! An idiot could do this program. I say that as a compliment to the author, Isabel De Los Rios. Basically she’s done all the work, all YOU do is follow what she says.

The one thing I didn’t like about the program is that it’s only available as an eBook. At first I thought this would be a problem, because I like having a hardcopy of what I’m reading. But it worked out OK because I just ended up printing out pages as I needed them. And I guess I saved a few trees in the process too.

So anyway, I hope you found this information useful. If you want, you can check out the program for yourself to see if it’s the answer for you.

Still not dieting,

-Janice

5 Foods I Will Never Eat Again

I thought it would be fun to create a post on foods that will never again enter my house. No weight loss story is complete without a list of foods you vow never to eat again. We’ve all got guilty pleasures that we indulge in once and a while. But then there’s just those foods that you honestly will never touch again with a fork, a knife, a straw, or any other utensil for that matter. Here are my top 5:

1. Cobb Salad

The Cobb Salad is America’s way to pretend we are making a healthy choice. The truth is, this salad is about as healthy as a cheeseburger and fries. I used to always order these at restaurants as a way to secretly indulge while feeling better about myself at the same time. I used to love saying, “Oh, I’m on a diet, I’ll just have a salad today, please.” In fact, when this monstrosity is brought out to your table it’s piled so high with meat (chicken or pork), bacon, cheese, potato and eggs that you’re lucky if you can even uncover the lettuce. To Europeans, a salad means greens and tomatoes. Somehow we Americans heard that, and thought they said greens and bacon. Cross this one off my list!

2. “Chinese Food”

Does anyone else realise that “Chinese Food” was invented in America? Chinese people eat rice. With vegetables and a little meat. They wouldn’t touch this stuff with a 10 foot chopstick. Only in America will you find endless buffets of lavish deep-fried, grease-soaked food. Chop suey, General Tso’s chicken, egg rolls, chow mein, fortune cookies. The world already figured out that we’re responsible for fast food, so we thought we’d blame this one on China. We come up with dishes like crab rangoon and call it crab. Actually, it’s fake meat loaded with cream cheese. Whether it’s at a buffet or in a takeout box, I’ll be keeping my distance from Chinese food!

3. Chicken Fried Steak (CFS)

Yes, I admit, I am from Texas and everyone knows that chicken fried steak is a Texas classic. And really a Southern classic if we’re honest. But this is another one that makes it on my list as foods I will never willingly consume again. This is my weight loss story after-all, I’ve got to have some say in what I eat here. CFS, whether it is covered in gravy or mushroom sauce, or just the fat from the deep frier, will not be a part of the rest of my life. That’s right, you heard it here first: a native Texan breaking her vows with the beloved country fried steak. And in case you were wondering, it’s made up tenderized cube steak, not chicken, then coated with flour and eggs and pan-fried, before being lathered in the sauce of choice. Word on the street is that it got its name due to a resemblance to fried chicken, another dish crossed out (sorry Colonel Sanders).

4. Philly Cheesesteak

Here is another food with a deceptive name. A cheese steak is not really steak at all; it’s actually made from frozen chipped beef. Chipped beef is basically processed meat. It’s beef that’s been thinly sliced, loaded with salt, air-dried, and then packed into a jar to be sold on mass. The amount of sodium in one of these sandwiches is through the roof. Let’s not even get into the calories, fat content, or overall nutritional value. Or that there’s more processed cheese on it than in 4 boxes of Kraft Dinner. This isn’t one of those bad foods where you eat it yet feel satisfied after. This is one where you eat it and feel like there’s a basketball in your stomach after. Having been through my weight loss story, I can say that it is exactly because of these kinds of foods that you need to plan what you eat in advance. So you can readily say NO to the cheesesteak when you hear its processed voice calling.

5.Venti Double Chocolate Chip Frappuccino

If you’ve never had one of these bad boys, you may be wondering why I included this in a list about food. Just because it’s in a cup doesn’t make it a drink. Trust me, this is NOT coffee. It’s dessert through and through. If you ever want your own weight loss story, stay away from these. When you’re in line at Starbucks, don’t even look at it on the menu. Keep your eyes on the teas. Lots of choices here: Chai Brewed, Green tea, or any of the Tazo’s; try one of these. If those don’t sound appealing, my next advice: Run. Out the door, around the block. Go ahead and break a sweat, and pretty soon you’ll forget all about the fact you thought you wanted “coffee”. Thanks for reading.

Transforming Your Food Cravings By Establishing New Thought Patterns

I thought it would be fun and insightful to compare my food cravings from before and after my weight loss story. This is probably the best way to illustrate how much my thinking has changed since starting my new lifestyle. I’ve always loved food and cooking, but the way I see nutrition and healthy living has changed for the better. In fact, over the past fourteen months, as I lost 50, 75 and finally 100 pounds, I’ve come to notice that my very DESIRES and CRAVINGS about certain types of food have changed.

I admit that it is still a battle, day-in and day-out, but it’s becoming easier all the time. It can take a while to break an old habit and start a new one, and its the same thing with thought patterns to do with food. By saying “no” to a certain kind of food repeatedly, over the course of a year I’ve noticed that the cravings I had for certain types of foods aren’t as strong as they used to be. I’m learning to love new kinds of foods that make my body much happier and make me feel a whole lot better.

If you want to not only lose weight, but also KEEP IT OFF then dieting is not the answer. The only way to be successful long-term is to actually change your thinking patterns related to diet and exercise. Establish a whole new way of living. It’s not easy, I know, but it is POSSIBLE. For me personally, The Diet Solution helped a lot. Because it was able providing an answer, a SOLUTION to getting fit that didn’t involve flash dieting. Rather, it was about a lifestyle. Not a lifestyle of self-denial and restriction, but of training your mind and body to desire different foods.

I don’t want to pretend that I’m a totally different person with some sensational weight loss story. I can’t stress this point enough. Eating will always be a battle for me. Some days it feels like a war. But it’s a battle I’ve starting winning, one day at a time, week after week, month after month. Never giving up, always holding my ground, and keeping my waist-line in check. If you’ve been on the losing side for a while, you may feel like that’s where you’ll always be. I want to encourage you and tell you were made to WIN THE BATTLE. Don’t give up. If I can do it, then I know you can too!

The Secret to Losing Weight Is More Mental Than Physical

I want to talk about how losing weight is more mental than physical. Many women I talk to about my weight loss story fear that if they did lose a bunch of weight, that they’d just gain it all back again. Why is that? Because they love their favorite foods too much, and wouldn’t be able to give them up. That idea right there explains the difference between DIETING and a long-term LIFESTYLE CHANGE.

The day my doctor told me I was prediabetic, believe me, I wasn’t interested in going on a “quick-fix” diet. I wanted to change my lifestyle for good. And never hear my name and the word diabetes in the same sentence again. In order to do that, I would need my THOUGHTS about healthy living to change.

Since losing 100 pounds, I’ve literally talked to dozens of women with a similar weight loss story. Not all were at dramatic as mine, but many of them lost 20-30 pounds, which is still a fantastic achievement and I applaud them all. The one CONSTANT that I found with the women who had lost weight and kept it off for more than 6 months, was that their THINKING had changed. They weren’t forcing themselves to eat differently. They sincerely wanted to.

The way they saw food, nutrition and healthy living had completely changed. They truly no longer wanted to eat greasy hamburgers and three cheese pizza.I know many women who even gave up drinking large sugary coffees and now only drink green tea. And believe me, that’s harder than it sounds. I used to love my daily Starbucks. You need some serious BRAIN TRANSFORMATION if you’re gonna switch from a Caramel Macchiato to organic, loose-leaf tea.

Since losing 100 pounds, healthy living has become a major priority of mine. It is no longer seen as a chore, but something I truly enjoy. Many women come to me now for tips for losing weight fast and how they can get motivated to lose weight. What I’ve come to realize is the most important factor in achieving your own weight loss story is what you believe about healthy living between your ears. When you hear the term “healthy living” or “nutrition” what is your first, natural response? A groan? A chuckle? A sigh? If it’s any of those responses, then you’re a lot like me. Or at least how I used to be. Which is fine, it’s quite normal.

In fact, those were the types of responses I had about healthy living for 20 years of my life. The idea of me being fit was a joke, it was an impossible ideal that I could never achieve. At least that’s what I BELIEVED. So because of that I mostly just ignored my weight. The biggest change in me in the last fourteen months is not a PHYSICAL change, but a MENTAL change. The way I think about food is different now. The way I think about living healthy is different now.

When I hear the words “healthy living” or “nutrition” I no longer chuckle, but instead I perk up, I get interested, I even get excited. Now, I’m always trying to learn new things so that I can help other women. The more I know, the more power I have. The better I’m going to feel, the more energy I’ll, the better I’ll sleep, the more attractive I’ll feel…the list goes on and on. For me, HEALTHY LIVING is LIVING. In the next post I want to share some guilty pleasure foods from before my weight loss story to illustrate how I’ve changed, not just physically, but mentally.

Creating Healthy Meal Plans For Weight Loss

As the saying goes, the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. What would that step be in my weight loss story? I couldn’t focus on losing 50 pounds or 100 pounds, but just on taking that first step. I dreaded the thought of me running on a tread mill at a public gym. Heck, I dreaded the thought of even running. So I was relieved when my doctor said we could start by focusing on my diet. At least for now.

The goal was to create healthy meal plans for weight loss that were designed just for me. My doctor explained how the right nutrition and dietary requirements are different for every person, because we all have different body types. That made sense I guess. I’m sure I don’t have the same dietary requirements as an NFL linebacker (though my husband might dare to question that). By developing a diet plan to burn fat designed just for my body type, we could accelerate the fat loss process. Which was exactly what I wanted to do!

I loved to cook, and was always finding new recipes on the Food Network, but I didn’t really know anything about making healthy meals plans for weight loss. It had just never been an issue. My husband had the metabolism of Michael Phelps, so I never had to worry about how much butter or oil I added, or about choosing low fat foods. He was like a dog. Whatever I put in his bowl, he devoured, and the feedback was always, “That was amazing, honey!” Combined with any series of belches of course.

I guess my weight was kind of sacrificed in the process. So if I was going to learn how to cook healthier meals, I would need some help! Food had always been my weakness, but the problem was that my genetics didn’t help my cause. I had more overweight family members than I could count on one hand! So if I was going to do this, I wasn’t interested in some 30 day Hollywood diet. I needed a lifestyle overhaul, a long-term plan that would keep the pounds off for good and give me a true weight loss story. A whole new way of looking at food and cooking. But where could I find such a thing?

To me being skinny seemed like it was all about starving yourself and eating lettuce all week. I didn’t mind celery, dipped in blue-cheese dressing that is, and with a side of honey garlic wings. Carrots were OK, glazed in butter and brown sugar. Apples? Sweet, green-apple pie, yes ma’am. Potatoes? Chili cheese fries! Corn? Slow baked shepherd’s pie! Man, this was gonna be harder than I thought! Would I ever have my own weight loss story?

That was the way I felt fourteen months ago. Losing weight and overcoming my food cravings seemed like an insurmountable obstacle. Read on to see how I finally did it. Without even going on a diet!

My Weight Loss Story: How A Girl From Texas Lost 100 Pounds

Hi, Janice here.

First, I have to say that my best friend Jenny put me up to this. She’s been bugging me to start this blog for months, so here I am, finally getting around to it. I want to tell you a bit about my weight loss story so you can see how me, a girl from Dallas, lost 100 pounds.

To start, I guess I’ll tell you a bit about myself. I’m 32, live in Dallas, Texas, am married, and have 3 kids, Daniel, David and Kelly. I’m a real estate broker, love shopping, and The Food Network. And 14 months ago, I used to weigh 250 pounds. That still gets me every time I say that sentence and talk about my weight loss story.

What caused me to finally take action against my weight, was when I went in for a blood test last year and my doctor diagnosed me as being prediabetic. Obviously, I freaked. I absolutely hated needles and the idea of having to inject myself each day or even take pills, etc for the rest of my life was a scary thought. I knew that my eating had been out of control for a few years, but it wasn’t until that moment, sitting in my doctor’s office, that I knew that I had to do something about it.

My doctor told me that 50 million Americans are prediabetic, but that people who act early can completely avoid any complications of diabetes. That was all I needed to hear. Anything to avoid needles. The first thing he recommended was that I join a gym or even get a personal trainer. I groaned. I hated going to the gym, and the idea of running on a treadmill in public turned my stomach. I couldn’t even remember the last time I ran around the block!

I knew it was important that we act right away though, so my doctor and I discussed other options. I loved food and cooking, so that was where we decided to start. For me, food would be the major factor in my weight loss story. We decided the best thing I could do, was start by creating healthy meal plans for weight loss designed just for me. We would target foods geared to burn fat and avoid everything else.

That meant no more fast food breakfasts, no more Venti cappuccinos, no more catered business lunches, and no more take-out pizza on the way home from work. I was trying to take in everything he was saying, but I had been overweight for so long, that I didn’t know if it was really possible to lose weight. But then the thought of giving myself a needle came back. And that’s when I sat up, took a deep breath, looked my doctor in the eye, and said,”Ok, let’s do this.” That was the beginning of my weight loss story.
